Description

Flaky, buttery croissants filled with almond cream and topped with sliced almonds

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 1.5 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon almond extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons yeast
  • 0.5 cup almond paste
  • 0.5 cups milk
  • 0.5 cup almonds

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Stir to dissolve yeast, then let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and yeast mixture. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Step 3: Add softened butter to the dough and mix until a cohesive dough forms.
  4. Step 4: Knead the dough for 10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Step 5: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Step 6: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
