Description

Ingredients

  • 0.25 cup shortening
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 egg
  • 6 medium-sized apples
  • 0.25 cup ice water
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cups flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Step 3: Add cold butter and shortening, using a pastry blender or fingers to work into flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Step 4: Gradually add ice water, stirring with a fork until dough comes together in a ball.
  5. Step 5: Divide dough in half, shape into disks, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  6. Step 6: In a separate large bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix until apples are evenly coated.
