Description
A classic Russian dish made with sautéed beef, mushrooms, and a creamy sauce, served over egg noodles
Ingredients
- 1 cup egg noodles
- 1 cup onion
- 1 pound beef strips
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 cup beef broth
- 8 oz sour cream
- parsley or dill
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 8 oz mushrooms
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Step 1: Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions and set aside.
- Step 2: In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Step 3: In the same skillet, add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Step 4: Add the mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their liquid and start to brown, about 5 minutes.
- Step 5: Add the beef broth, tomato paste, mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- Step 6: Return the beef to the skillet and stir to coat with the sauce.
- Step 7: Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
- Step 8: Stir in the sour cream and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Step 9: Serve the beef and sauce over the cooked egg noodles and garnish with parsley or dill.
