A classic Southern dish featuring crispy, spicy catfish

Ingredients

  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 lemons
  • 2 tbsp blackening seasoning
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 4 fillets catfish
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 0.25 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Step 2: In a small bowl, mix together blackening seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Step 3: Dip each catfish fillet into the melted butter, then coat in the spice mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Step 4: Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tbsp of melted butter and swirl to coat.
  5. Step 5: Add 2 catfish fillets to the skillet and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side. Transfer to oven and bake for 8-10 minutes or until cooked through.
  6. Step 6: Repeat with remaining catfish fillets.
  7. Step 7: Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
