Description

A classic Vietnamese sandwich filled with grilled pork, pickled carrots, and fresh herbs

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 0.25 cup cilantro
  • 1 lb pork shoulder
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 bread rolls Bánh Mì
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 0.25 cup fish sauce
  • 1 cucumber
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 large carrot
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.25 cup mint

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a large bowl, whisk together fish sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, and vegetable oil
  2. Step 2: Add sliced pork to the marinade and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes
  3. Step 3: Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat
  4. Step 4: Remove pork from marinade and cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through
  5. Step 5: Meanwhile, toast Bánh Mì bread rolls by grilling or baking for 2-3 minutes
  6. Step 6: Spread mayonnaise on each toasted bread roll
  7. Step 7: Add sliced grilled pork, pickled carrots, cucumber, cilantro, mint, salt, and pepper to each bread roll
  8. Step 8: Serve immediately
