Description
Classic comfort food featuring a savory Salisbury steak smothered in a rich brown gravy
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 pound ground beef
- 0.25 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 0.5 medium onion
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 cups beef broth
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well with your hands until just combined.
- Step 3: Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape each part into a round patty.
- Step 4: Dredge the patties in flour, shaking off excess.
- Step 5: Heat butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the patties for 2-3 minutes per side, or until browned. Transfer the patties to a baking dish.
- Step 6: Reduce heat to medium and add a little more butter to the skillet if necessary. Sprinkle a small amount of flour to the skillet and whisk to combine with the butter and pan drippings. Cook for 1 minute, or until the mixture is lightly browned.
- Step 7: Gradually pour in beef broth, whisking constantly. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the gravy thickens.
- Step 8: Pour the gravy over the Salisbury steaks and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the steaks are cooked to your desired level of doneness.
- Step 9: Serve hot and enjoy!
