Description
Tender pulled pork in a tangy vinegar-based sauce, served on a soft bun
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 0.25 cup water
- 0.25 cup apple cider vinegar
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 pounds pork shoulder
- Coleslaw
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C)
- Step 2: In a small bowl, whisk together vinegar, water, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper
- Step 3: Place the pork shoulder in a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot, and pour the vinegar mixture over it
- Step 4: Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven
- Step 5: Braise the pork for 6-8 hours, or until it is tender and easily shreds with a fork
- Step 6: Remove the pot from the oven and let it cool slightly
- Step 7: Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces
- Step 8: Strain the cooking liquid and discard the excess
- Step 9: Add the strained cooking liquid back to the pot with the shredded pork, and toss to coat
- Step 10: Split the hamburger buns in half and toast until lightly browned
- Step 11: Assemble the sandwiches by spooning the pulled pork onto the buns, and topping with coleslaw
