Description
Spicy, creamy grits with a kick of jalapeño and melted cheddar cheese
Ingredients
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup stone-ground grits
- 1 medium onion
- 0.5 cup Monterey Jack cheese
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 large jalapeño pepper
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- Step 1: Bring water to a boil in a large saucepan, gradually whisk in grits, reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 20-25 minutes or until creamy
- Step 2: In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat, add diced onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes
- Step 3: Add minced garlic and diced jalapeño to skillet, cook for an additional 1-2 minutes
- Step 4: Stir in grated cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese until melted and smooth
- Step 5: Add cooked grits to cheese mixture, stir until well combined
- Step 6: Season with salt and black pepper to taste
