Ingredients

  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup stone-ground grits
  • 1 medium onion
  • 0.5 cup Monterey Jack cheese
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 large jalapeño pepper
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Bring water to a boil in a large saucepan, gradually whisk in grits, reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 20-25 minutes or until creamy
  2. Step 2: In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat, add diced onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes
