Description

Ingredients
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
- 2 cloves garlic
- 3 large potatoes
- 0.5 cup mozzarella cheese
- 1 onion
- Salt and pepper
- 0.5 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
- Step 2: In a large saucepan, combine sliced potatoes and enough cold water to cover them. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 5 minutes. Drain potatoes and set aside.
- Step 3: In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Step 4: In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, create a layer of potatoes. Top with a layer of the onion mixture, then sprinkle with cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Repeat this process until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
- Step 5: Pour heavy cream over the top layer of cheese, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Step 6: Cover dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until top is golden brown and potatoes are tender.
