Description
A creamy, cheesy tuna casserole perfect for a weeknight dinner
Ingredients
- 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 0.5 cup mozzarella cheese
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup macaroni
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 1 can tuna
- 2 cups cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C)
- Step 2: Cook macaroni according to package instructions until al dente, drain and set aside
- Step 3: In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat
- Step 4: Add flour and whisk together to make a roux, cooking for 1 minute
- Step 5: Slowly add milk, whisking constantly to avoid lumps
- Step 6: Bring mixture to a simmer and cook until thickened, stirring occasionally
- Step 7: Remove from heat and stir in cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted and smooth
- Step 8: Add cooked macaroni, tuna, salt, and pepper to the cheese sauce, stirring until well combined
- Step 9: Transfer mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish and top with additional grated cheese if desired
- Step 10: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and heated through
