Description
A comforting, creamy casserole made with tuna, noodles, and a blend of cheeses
Ingredients
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- 12 oz medium egg noodles
- 1 medium onion
- 1 tsp thyme
- 2 cups cheddar cheese
- 2 cans tuna
- 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup peas and carrots
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 cup milk
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Step 2: Cook noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then set aside.
- Step 3: In a large skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until softened.
- Step 4: Add the frozen peas and carrots, thyme, salt, and pepper to the skillet and cook until the vegetables are tender.
- Step 5: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked noodles, tuna, and vegetable mixture.
- Step 6: In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Step 7: Add the milk to the saucepan and stir until warm and smooth.
- Step 8: Gradually add the cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese to the saucepan, stirring until melted and well combined.
- Step 9: Pour the cheese sauce over the noodle mixture and stir until coated.
- Step 10: Transfer the casserole to a 9x13 inch baking dish and top with additional grated cheese if desired.
- Step 11: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is heated through.
