Description

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 0.25 cup cornmeal
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons yeast
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 0.5 cup sugar
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 0.5 cups water

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until the yeast is activated.
  2. Step 2: Add melted butter, remaining sugar, 2 cups of flour, and salt to the bowl. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Step 3: Gradually add the remaining 1 1/2 cups of flour and cornmeal to the bowl. Mix until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Step 4: Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until it becomes elastic.
  5. Step 5: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  6. Step 6: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  7. Step 7: Punch down the dough and roll it out into a thick circle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Step 8: Transfer the dough to a 9-inch deep-dish pizza pan or round cake pan.
