Description
A classic Southern dish featuring a breaded and fried steak made from chicken breast
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 0.5 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1.5 lbs chicken breast
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Step 1: Pound the chicken breast to 1/4 inch thickness
- Step 2: In a shallow dish, mix together flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper
- Step 3: Pour buttermilk into a separate shallow dish
- Step 4: Dip the chicken breast into the buttermilk, coating completely, then roll in the flour mixture to coat
- Step 5: Dip the floured chicken into the beaten eggs, making sure to coat completely
- Step 6: Roll the egg-coated chicken into the panko breadcrumbs to coat
- Step 7: Heat about 1/2-inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat
- Step 8: Fry the breaded chicken for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through
- Step 9: Drain on paper towels and serve hot
