Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1.5 pounds beef cube steak
  • Vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Pound the cube steak to 1/4 inch thickness
  2. Step 2: In a shallow dish, mix together flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper
  3. Step 3: Pour buttermilk into a separate shallow dish
  4. Step 4: Dredge the steak in the flour mixture, then dip in buttermilk, and coat in flour mixture again
  5. Step 5: Heat 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat
  6. Step 6: Fry the steak for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown
  7. Step 7: Transfer the steak to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm
  8. Step 8: Reduce heat to medium and add butter to the skillet
  9. Step 9: Once melted, sprinkle flour over the butter and whisk to combine
  10. Step 10: Cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the mixture forms a light brown paste
  11. Step 11: Slowly pour in heavy cream, whisking constantly
  12. Step 12: Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until thickened
  13. Step 13: Serve the steak with cream gravy spooned over the top
