Description
Tenderized steak coated with a crispy flour crust, fried to perfection and served with a rich cream gravy
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 1.5 pounds beef cube steak
- Vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Step 1: Pound the cube steak to 1/4 inch thickness
- Step 2: In a shallow dish, mix together flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper
- Step 3: Pour buttermilk into a separate shallow dish
- Step 4: Dredge the steak in the flour mixture, then dip in buttermilk, and coat in flour mixture again
- Step 5: Heat 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat
- Step 6: Fry the steak for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown
- Step 7: Transfer the steak to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm
- Step 8: Reduce heat to medium and add butter to the skillet
- Step 9: Once melted, sprinkle flour over the butter and whisk to combine
- Step 10: Cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the mixture forms a light brown paste
- Step 11: Slowly pour in heavy cream, whisking constantly
- Step 12: Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until thickened
- Step 13: Serve the steak with cream gravy spooned over the top
