Pan-seared chicken breasts with Marsala wine and mushroom sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 cups mixed mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup Marsala wine
  • 4 chicken breasts

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and thyme
  2. Step 2: Dredge the chicken in flour, shaking off excess
  3. Step 3: Heat butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat
  4. Step 4: Sear the chicken until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side
  5. Step 5: Transfer the chicken to a plate and set aside
  6. Step 6: Add the mushrooms and garlic to the skillet, cook until the mushrooms release their liquid and start to brown
  7. Step 7: Add the Marsala wine and chicken broth to the skillet, scraping up any browned bits
  8. Step 8: Return the chicken to the skillet and simmer until the sauce has thickened and the chicken is cooked through
  9. Step 9: Serve hot, spooning the sauce over the top of the chicken
