Description
A classic Cincinnati-style chili served over spaghetti with a unique blend of spices, beans, onions, and a heap of shredded cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 large onion
- 2 tsp cumin
- 0.5 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 lb ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 can red kidney beans
- 0.25 tsp black pepper

- 0.5 tsp allspice

- 0.5 cup cocoa powder
- 0.25 cup water
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 12 oz spaghetti

Instructions
- Step 1: Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Step 2: In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
- Step 3: Add the diced onion to the pot and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Step 4: Add the garlic, flour, cumin, cinnamon, allspice, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to the pot. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Step 5: Stir in the diced tomatoes, red kidney beans, beef broth, water, and cocoa powder. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Step 6: Reduce the heat to low and let the chili simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Step 7: To assemble the 5-way, place a portion of cooked spaghetti on a plate or in a bowl. Spoon the chili over the spaghetti, followed by a sprinkle of shredded cheese, a spoonful of diced onions, and a dollop of sour cream.
