A classic San Francisco-style seafood stew originating from Italian-American fishermen

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 pound mussels
  • 0.5 cups onion
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 pound shrimp
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup fish stock
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 pound firm white fish
  • 1 pound clams
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 2 tablespoons parsley

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat
  2. Step 2: Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes
  3. Step 3: Add garlic and cook for 1 minute
  4. Step 4: Add crushed tomatoes, wine, fish stock, oregano, thyme, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper
  5. Step 5: Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes
  6. Step 6: Add clams and mussels, cover, and cook until they open, about 5 minutes
  7. Step 7: Add fish and shrimp, cover, and cook until seafood is cooked through, about 5 minutes
  8. Step 8: Stir in parsley and serve hot
