Description
Creamy clam chowder served in a warm, crusty bread bowl
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 medium onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 cups potatoes
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 0.5 cup heavy cream
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 4 sourdough bread bowls
- 1 pound clams
- 1 cup clam juice
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 2: Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Step 3: Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Step 4: Add clams, clam juice, heavy cream, potatoes, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-12 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
- Step 5: Meanwhile, bake bread bowls in the oven for 5-7 minutes or until lightly toasted.
- Step 6: Ladle chowder into bread bowls and serve immediately.
