Description
Crispy battered cod served with golden fries and tangy tartar sauce
Ingredients
- 0.5 cup soda water
- 0.25 cup butter
- 2 lbs potatoes
- 4 6 oz cod fillets
- 1 cup tartar sauce
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- 0.25 tsp paprika
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups vegetable oil
- 0.5 cup cornstarch
- 0.5 tsp salt
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. Gradually add soda water, stirring until smooth.
- Step 2: Add melted butter, salt, pepper, and paprika to the batter. Mix well.
- Step 3: Dip cod fillets into the batter, coating evenly.
- Step 4: Heat 1/2-inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry battered cod for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown.
- Step 5: In a separate pot, heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry potato strips in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Step 6: Drain fish and chips on paper towels. Serve with tartar sauce.
