Description
A traditional Italian dish made with layers of pasta, rich meat sauce, and creamy ricotta cheese.
Ingredients
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 lbs ground beef
- basil
- Salt and pepper
- 8 noodles lasagna
- 1 onion
- 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 cups marinara sauce
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 2: Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Step 3: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.
- Step 4: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent.
- Step 5: Stir in the marinara sauce and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let sauce simmer while you prepare the cheese mixture.
- Step 6: In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
- Step 7: Spread a layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Arrange 4 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce.
- Step 8: Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Step 9: Repeat the layers, starting with the meat sauce, noodles, ricotta cheese mixture, and mozzarella cheese.
- Step 10: Top the final layer of mozzarella cheese with the grated Parmesan cheese.
- Step 11: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Step 12: Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Step 13: Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with chopped fresh basil leaves.
