Description
A traditional Japanese dish made with vinegared rice and fresh fillings
Ingredients
- 0.25 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 sheet nori seaweed
- 0.25 cup rice vinegar
- 0.5 cucumber
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup Japanese short-grain rice
- 0.25 cup imitation crab meat
- 0.5 avocado
Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the sushi rice according to the package instructions using 1 3/4 cups of water
- Step 2: In a small saucepan, combine rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Heat until dissolved
- Step 3: Once the rice is cooked, stir in the vinegar mixture
- Step 4: Allow the rice to cool to room temperature
- Step 5: Cut the avocado and cucumber into thin slices
- Step 6: Lay a sheet of nori seaweed flat on a sushi mat
- Step 7: Spread a thin layer of sushi rice onto the seaweed, leaving a 1-inch border at the top
- Step 8: Place the avocado, cucumber, and crab meat in the middle of the rice
- Step 9: Roll the sushi using the mat
- Step 10: Slice into 8 equal pieces
