Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 1 small onion
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Rinse the rice in a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear
  2. Step 2: In a large pot, heat the oil over medium heat
  3. Step 3: Add the diced onion and cook until translucent
  4. Step 4: Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute
  5. Step 5: Add the rice and water to the pot, stirring to combine
  6. Step 6: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1 1/2 hours
  7. Step 7: Season with salt to taste
