Description
A traditional Asian comfort food made with rice and water
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 cup uncooked white rice
- 1 small onion
- 4 cups water
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- Step 1: Rinse the rice in a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear
- Step 2: In a large pot, heat the oil over medium heat
- Step 3: Add the diced onion and cook until translucent
- Step 4: Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute
- Step 5: Add the rice and water to the pot, stirring to combine
- Step 6: Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1 1/2 hours
- Step 7: Season with salt to taste
