Ingredients
- 0.5 teaspoon paprika
- Vegetable oil
- 2 large Russet potatoes
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 0.25 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 0.25 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, combine grated potatoes, flour, Cajun seasoning, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Step 2: Squeeze out excess moisture from the potato mixture using a cheesecloth or paper towels.
- Step 3: In a separate bowl, mix together melted butter, beaten egg, and panko breadcrumbs.
- Step 4: Add the wet ingredients to the potato mixture and stir until just combined.
- Step 5: Using your hands, shape the mixture into 6-8 patties.
- Step 6: Heat about 1/2-inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Step 7: When the oil is hot, add 2-3 patties to the skillet and fry for 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Step 8: Repeat with the remaining patties.
- Step 9: Drain the hash browns on paper towels and serve hot.
