A twist on the classic green bean casserole with crispy onions and a crunchy topping
Ingredients
- 1 cup cream of mushroom soup
- 0.5 cups French-fried onions
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 medium onion
- 0.5 cup milk
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
- 1 pound green beans
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Step 2: Bring a pot of water to a boil and blanch green beans for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Step 3: In a large skillet, sauté sliced onions over medium-low heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until caramelized and crispy.
- Step 4: In a separate skillet, sauté garlic and green beans in butter until tender.
- Step 5: In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, black pepper, and salt. Stir until smooth.
- Step 6: Add cooked green beans and crispy onions to the bowl and stir until combined.
- Step 7: Pour mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish and top with French-fried onions and cheddar cheese.
- Step 8: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until onions are golden brown and casserole is hot and bubbly.
