Description

A French-inspired grilled ham and cheese sandwich topped with a fried egg and béchamel sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 slices Gruyère cheese
  • 2 slices ham
  • 1 cup béchamel sauce
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 slices bread
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium heat.
  2. Step 2: Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Step 3: Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, on the grill.
  4. Step 4: Top each slice with a slice of ham, a slice of cheese, and a spoonful of béchamel sauce.
  5. Step 5: Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
  6. Step 6: Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  7. Step 7: Flip the sandwiches over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the other side is also golden brown.
  8. Step 8: Meanwhile, cook the eggs in a non-stick pan over medium heat until the whites are set and the yolks are cooked to your desired doneness.
  9. Step 9: Place a cooked egg on top of each sandwich and serve immediately.
