Ingredients

  • 0.25 teaspoon Sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 pounds Russet potatoes
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 cup Vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Peel the potatoes and cut them into long, thin strips.
  2. Step 2: Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
  3. Step 3: Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or a deep fryer to 350°F (180°C).
  4. Step 4: Drain the potato strips and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  5. Step 5: Carefully add the potato strips to the hot oil in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  6. Step 6: Fry the potatoes for 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown, then remove them from the oil with a slotted spoon.
  7. Step 7: Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C) and fry the potatoes again in batches until they are crispy and golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Step 8: Remove the French fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. Step 9: Sprinkle the French fries with salt, black pepper, and sugar while still warm.
