Ingredients

  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups Gruyère cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 6 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large onions
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 4 slices baguette

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
  2. Step 2: In a large saucepan, cook the sliced onions in butter over medium heat until caramelized, stirring occasionally (about 20-25 minutes)
  3. Step 3: Add salt, pepper, and garlic to the saucepan and cook for 1 minute
  4. Step 4: Add the white wine to the saucepan and cook until the liquid is almost completely reduced, stirring occasionally (about 5 minutes)
