Description
Crispy fried green tomatoes with a tangy remoulade sauce
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- Remoulade sauce
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil
- 4 large green tomatoes
- 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Step 1: In a shallow dish, mix together flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper
- Step 2: Pour buttermilk into a separate shallow dish
- Step 3: Dip each tomato slice into buttermilk, then coat in flour mixture, shaking off excess
- Step 4: Dip flour-coated tomato slice into panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere
- Step 5: Heat about 1/2-inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat
- Step 6: Fry tomato slices in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side
- Step 7: Drain fried tomatoes on paper towels
- Step 8: Serve immediately with remoulade sauce
