Description
Soft and fluffy doughnuts smothered in a rich chocolate glaze
Ingredients
- 0.5 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
- 0.5 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons yeast
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 0.25 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and yeast
- Step 2: In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter
- Step 3: Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a smooth batter forms
- Step 4: Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it becomes elastic
- Step 5: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour
- Step 6: Preheat the oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F
- Step 7: Once the oil is hot, punch down the dough and cut out the doughnuts
- Step 8: Fry the doughnuts for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown
- Step 9: Drain the doughnuts on paper towels
- Step 10: Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler
- Step 11: Add the corn syrup and vanilla extract to the melted chocolate and stir until smooth
