Description

A classic Greek street food wrapped in a warm pita with juicy lamb, crispy veggies, and tangy tzatziki sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup lettuce
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 large tomato
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 500 g lamb shoulder
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 large cucumber
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 4 large pita bread
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup feta cheese
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 0.5 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper
  2. Step 2: Add the sliced lamb and marinate for at least 30 minutes
  3. Step 3: Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the lamb for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through
  4. Step 4: Meanwhile, toast the pita bread by wrapping it in foil and heating it in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes
  5. Step 5: Assemble the gyro by spreading a layer of tzatziki sauce on each pita, followed by a few slices of lamb, some onion, tomato, cucumber, lettuce, and feta cheese
  6. Step 6: Serve immediately and enjoy!
