Description
Crispy fried chicken wings smothered in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce
Ingredients
- Vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- Sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 0.5 cup flour
- 0.25 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 0.5 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 pounds chicken wings
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Step 2: Pour buttermilk into a separate large bowl.
- Step 3: Dredge chicken wings in flour mixture, shaking off excess, then dip in buttermilk, making sure they are fully submerged.
- Step 4: Dredge wings in flour mixture again, pressing coating onto wings to adhere.
- Step 5: Heat about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a large pot to 350°F.
- Step 6: Fry wings in batches until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes.
- Step 7: Drain wings on paper towels.
- Step 8: In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, garlic, rice vinegar, and ginger.
- Step 9: Bring sauce to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until thickened.
- Step 10: Toss fried wings in sauce until fully coated.
- Step 11: Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped scallions.
