Description

Crispy fried chicken wings smothered in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce

Ingredients

  • Vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 0.5 cup flour
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 0.5 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a large bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  2. Step 2: Pour buttermilk into a separate large bowl.
  3. Step 3: Dredge chicken wings in flour mixture, shaking off excess, then dip in buttermilk, making sure they are fully submerged.
  4. Step 4: Dredge wings in flour mixture again, pressing coating onto wings to adhere.
  5. Step 5: Heat about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a large pot to 350°F.
  6. Step 6: Fry wings in batches until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes.
  7. Step 7: Drain wings on paper towels.
  8. Step 8: In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, garlic, rice vinegar, and ginger.
  9. Step 9: Bring sauce to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until thickened.
  10. Step 10: Toss fried wings in sauce until fully coated.
  11. Step 11: Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped scallions.
