Description

A classic Italian sub sandwich filled with homemade meatballs, marinara sauce, and melted mozzarella cheese

Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 4 rolls sub
  • 0.25 cup parsley
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Step 2: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well with your hands until just combined.
  3. Step 3: Use your hands to shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm) in diameter. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Step 4: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
  5. Step 5: While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  6. Step 6: Once the meatballs are done, add them to the marinara sauce and simmer for a few minutes to coat.
  7. Step 7: Slice the sub rolls in half and place them on a baking sheet.
  8. Step 8: Assemble the subs by placing 3-4 meatballs on each roll, followed by a spoonful of marinara sauce and a slice of mozzarella cheese.
  9. Step 9: Place the subs under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
