Description
A classic Italian sub sandwich filled with homemade meatballs, marinara sauce, and melted mozzarella cheese
Ingredients
- 2 cloves garlic
- 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 pound ground beef
- 8 ounces mozzarella cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 4 rolls sub
- 0.25 cup parsley
- 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well with your hands until just combined.
- Step 3: Use your hands to shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm) in diameter. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Step 4: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
- Step 5: While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Step 6: Once the meatballs are done, add them to the marinara sauce and simmer for a few minutes to coat.
- Step 7: Slice the sub rolls in half and place them on a baking sheet.
- Step 8: Assemble the subs by placing 3-4 meatballs on each roll, followed by a spoonful of marinara sauce and a slice of mozzarella cheese.
- Step 9: Place the subs under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
