Description
A classic Italian recipe featuring bell peppers filled with a savory mixture of rice, ground beef, and Italian seasonings.
Ingredients
- 1 cup white rice
- 1 medium onion
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
- 4 large bell peppers
- Salt and pepper
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1 pound ground beef
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 2: Cut off the tops of the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes. Place them in a baking dish.
- Step 3: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.
- Step 4: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent.
- Step 5: Stir in the cooked rice, crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, and dried basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Step 6: Stuff each bell pepper with the rice and beef mixture, filling to the top.
- Step 7: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Step 8: Remove the foil and top each bell pepper with shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Step 9: Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
