Description

Crispy fried jalapeño peppers filled with creamy cheese

Ingredients

  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • 0.25 cup cilantro
  • 0.5 cup Monterey Jack cheese
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 eggs
  • 12 large jalapeño peppers
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat the oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F.
  2. Step 2: Cut off the tops of the jalapeños and scoop out the seeds and membranes.
  3. Step 3: In a bowl, mix together the cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, cilantro, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Step 4: Stuff each jalapeño pepper with the cheese mixture.
  5. Step 5: In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, panko breadcrumbs, and a pinch of salt.
  6. Step 6: Dip each stuffed jalapeño pepper in the flour mixture, then in the eggs, and finally in the panko breadcrumbs.
  7. Step 7: Dip the breaded jalapeño peppers in the buttermilk, making sure they are fully coated.
  8. Step 8: Carefully place the breaded jalapeño peppers in the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  9. Step 9: Remove the poppers from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
