Description
Crispy fried jalapeño peppers filled with creamy cheese
Ingredients
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
- 0.25 cup cilantro
- 0.5 cup Monterey Jack cheese
- 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
- 0.5 teaspoon paprika
- 2 eggs
- 12 large jalapeño peppers
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat the oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F.
- Step 2: Cut off the tops of the jalapeños and scoop out the seeds and membranes.
- Step 3: In a bowl, mix together the cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, cilantro, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Step 4: Stuff each jalapeño pepper with the cheese mixture.
- Step 5: In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, panko breadcrumbs, and a pinch of salt.
- Step 6: Dip each stuffed jalapeño pepper in the flour mixture, then in the eggs, and finally in the panko breadcrumbs.
- Step 7: Dip the breaded jalapeño peppers in the buttermilk, making sure they are fully coated.
- Step 8: Carefully place the breaded jalapeño peppers in the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Step 9: Remove the poppers from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
