Description

Crispy fried chicken wings tossed in a sweet and spicy Korean-inspired sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 0.5 cup gochujang sauce
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 cup cornstarch
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 0.5 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a large bowl, whisk together cornstarch, flour, panko breadcrumbs, sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Step 2: Add the chicken wings to the bowl and toss to coat evenly.
  3. Step 3: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Step 4: Fry the chicken wings in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per batch.
  5. Step 5: In a small saucepan, whisk together gochujang sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, garlic, and ginger.
  6. Step 6: Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 2-3 minutes or until thickened.
  7. Step 7: Toss the fried chicken wings in the sauce until coated evenly.
  8. Step 8: Serve immediately and garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.
