Description
Crispy fried chicken wings tossed in a sweet and spicy Korean-inspired sauce
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 0.5 cup gochujang sauce
- 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 0.5 cup cornstarch
- 0.25 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon ginger
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 pounds chicken wings
- 0.5 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 cup sugar
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, whisk together cornstarch, flour, panko breadcrumbs, sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Step 2: Add the chicken wings to the bowl and toss to coat evenly.
- Step 3: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Step 4: Fry the chicken wings in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per batch.
- Step 5: In a small saucepan, whisk together gochujang sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, garlic, and ginger.
- Step 6: Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 2-3 minutes or until thickened.
- Step 7: Toss the fried chicken wings in the sauce until coated evenly.
- Step 8: Serve immediately and garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.
