Description
A classic Hawaiian comfort food dish featuring a juicy hamburger patty, fried egg, and gravy, all served over a bed of rice.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic
- 8 ounces ground beef
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 onion
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup beef gravy
- 1 cup Japanese-style short-grain rice
Instructions
- Step 1: Cook the Japanese-style short-grain rice according to the package instructions.
- Step 2: Divide the cooked rice into 4 portions and shape each into a rectangle.
- Step 3: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Step 4: Form the ground beef into 4 patties and cook until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Step 5: Transfer the cooked patties to a plate and set aside.
- Step 6: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and cook the chopped onion and minced garlic until softened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Step 7: Add the cooked patties back into the skillet and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Step 8: In a separate non-stick skillet, fry the eggs sunny-side up.
- Step 9: To assemble the Loco Moco, place a cooked rice rectangle on a plate, followed by a hamburger patty, a fried egg, and a spoonful of beef gravy.
