Description
Tender and flavorful pulled pork with a Memphis-style dry rub
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- Coleslaw
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 0.25 cup Memphis-style dry rub
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 2 pounds pork shoulder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 0.25 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C)
- Step 2: In a small bowl, mix together dry rub, brown sugar, smoked paprika, kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder
- Step 3: Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, making sure to coat it evenly
- Step 4: Place the pork shoulder in a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot
- Step 5: Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven
- Step 6: Bake for 6-8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork
- Step 7: After 6 hours, remove the pot from the oven and carefully remove the pork from the pot
- Step 8: Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces
- Step 9: Return the shredded pork to the pot and add the barbecue sauce
- Step 10: Toss the pork to coat it evenly with the sauce
- Step 11: Split the hamburger buns in half and spoon the pulled pork onto the buns
- Step 12: Top with coleslaw and serve immediately
