Description
Individual savory pastries filled with eggs, cheese, and ham
Ingredients
- 0.5 cup ham
- 0.5 cup butter
- 0.5 cup cheddar cheese
- 0.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.5 cup heavy cream
- 2 large eggs
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 cup water
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Step 2: In a bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add butter and use a pastry blender or fingers to work it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Step 3: Gradually add ice-cold water, stirring with a fork until the dough comes together in a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Step 4: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch. Cut out circles of dough using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.
- Step 5: In a bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, salt, and pepper.
- Step 6: Spoon a small amount of egg mixture onto one half of each dough circle, leaving a 1/2 inch border around the edges. Top with cheese and ham.
- Step 7: Fold the other half of the dough circle over the filling and press the edges to seal.
- Step 8: Use a fork to crimp the edges and cut a small slit in the top of each quiche to allow steam to escape.
- Step 9: Place the quiches on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush with a little bit of water.
- Step 10: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the filling is set.
