Description
Pan-seared black cod glazed with a sweet and savory miso sauce, served with steamed bok choy and pickled ginger
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 0.5 cup white miso paste
- 2 tsp garlic
- 0.25 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp ginger
- 4 oz black cod fillets
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 4 cups bok choy
- 0.25 cup pickled ginger
- 0.25 cup mirin
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 0.25 cup sake
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Step 2: In a blender or food processor, combine miso paste, sake, mirin, brown sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and garlic. Blend until smooth.
- Step 3: Place the black cod fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the miso glaze evenly over both sides of the fish.
- Step 4: Heat 2 tbsp of vegetable oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the cod fillets for 2-3 minutes on each side, then transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.
- Step 5: Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the fish is cooked through.
- Step 6: While the fish is cooking, heat the remaining 2 tbsp of vegetable oil in a separate skillet over medium heat. Add the bok choy and cook until wilted, about 3-4 minutes.
- Step 7: Serve the black cod with steamed bok choy and pickled ginger on top.
