Description
A classic Cuban sandwich featuring slow-roasted mojo pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard on crispy bread.
Ingredients
- 0.25 cup lime juice
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 1 large dill pickle
- 4 slices ham
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 pound pork shoulder
- 0.5 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 0.25 cup olive oil
- 0.25 teaspoon salt
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 rolls Cuban bread
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Step 2: In a blender or food processor, combine lime juice, olive oil, garlic, oregano, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Blend until smooth.
- Step 3: Rub the mojo marinade all over the pork shoulder, making sure to coat it evenly.
- Step 4: Place the pork shoulder in a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot and cover with a lid.
- Step 5: Roast the pork for 6 hours, or until tender and easily shredded with a fork.
- Step 6: Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.
- Step 7: Split the Cuban bread rolls in half and toast until crispy.
- Step 8: Assemble the sandwiches by spreading a layer of yellow mustard on the bottom half of each roll, followed by a few slices of ham, some shredded pork, a slice of Swiss cheese, and a few slices of dill pickle.
- Step 9: Top with the top half of the bread roll and press gently.
