Description
Sweet and tangy BBQ baked beans with a hint of molasses
Ingredients
- 1 pound navy beans
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 pound smoked bacon
- 1 teaspoon ground mustard
- 0.25 cup BBQ sauce
- 2 medium onions
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 3 cloves garlic
- 0.5 cup molasses
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 275°F.
- Step 2: Rinse navy beans and pick out any debris or stones.
- Step 3: In a large Dutch oven, cook bacon over medium heat until crispy.
- Step 4: Remove bacon from pot, leaving drippings behind.
- Step 5: Add onions to pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Step 6: Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Step 7: Add navy beans, ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, mustard, cumin, salt, and pepper to pot.
- Step 8: Stir in BBQ sauce and cooked bacon.
- Step 9: Cover pot and transfer to preheated oven.
- Step 10: Bake for 6 hours, or until beans are tender.
