Description

Stir-fried beef strips with vegetables and a savory sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • Scallions
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 onion
  • 1 cup carrots
  • 1 lb beef
  • 0.25 cup oyster sauce

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
  2. Step 2: Add beef to the wok and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from wok and set aside.
  3. Step 3: In the same wok, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  4. Step 4: Add onion and garlic to the wok and cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Step 5: Add broccoli and carrots to the wok and cook until tender, about 4-5 minutes.
  6. Step 6: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch.
  7. Step 7: Pour the sauce into the wok and stir to combine. Bring the sauce to a boil and cook until thickened, about 1-2 minutes.
  8. Step 8: Return beef to the wok and stir to combine with the sauce.
  9. Step 9: Season with sesame oil, salt, and pepper to taste.
  10. Step 10: Garnish with chopped scallions and serve immediately.
