Description

A classic Sicilian-style sandwich originating from New Orleans

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp garlic
  • 1 cup giardiniera
  • 0.5 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup mortadella
  • 2 tbsp oregano
  • 0.25 cup parsley
  • 1 round Italian bread
  • 1 cup salami
  • 0.25 cup basil
  • 1 cup provolone cheese
  • 1 cup ham

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Step 2: Slice the Italian bread in half horizontally.
  3. Step 3: In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, parsley, basil, oregano, and garlic.
  4. Step 4: Brush the mixture onto the cut side of the bread.
  5. Step 5: Layer the mortadella, ham, salami, and provolone cheese on the bottom half of the bread.
  6. Step 6: Top with the giardiniera.
  7. Step 7: Place the top half of the bread on the sandwich.
  8. Step 8: Wrap the sandwich in plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  9. Step 9: Slice into wedges and serve.
