Description
A classic Sicilian-style sandwich originating from New Orleans
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp garlic
- 1 cup giardiniera
- 0.5 cup olive oil
- 1 cup mortadella
- 2 tbsp oregano
- 0.25 cup parsley
- 1 round Italian bread
- 1 cup salami
- 0.25 cup basil
- 1 cup provolone cheese
- 1 cup ham
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Step 2: Slice the Italian bread in half horizontally.
- Step 3: In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, parsley, basil, oregano, and garlic.
- Step 4: Brush the mixture onto the cut side of the bread.
- Step 5: Layer the mortadella, ham, salami, and provolone cheese on the bottom half of the bread.
- Step 6: Top with the giardiniera.
- Step 7: Place the top half of the bread on the sandwich.
- Step 8: Wrap the sandwich in plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Step 9: Slice into wedges and serve.
