Description
Crispy fried chicken tossed in a spicy Nashville-style hot oil blend, served with a side of local flair
Ingredients
- 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 0.5 cup Nashville hot oil blend
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 lbs chicken pieces
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper
- Step 2: Pour the buttermilk into a separate large bowl
- Step 3: Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture, shaking off excess
- Step 4: Dip the floured chicken pieces in the buttermilk, making sure they are fully submerged
- Step 5: Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture again, pressing the coating onto the chicken to adhere
- Step 6: Heat about 1/2-inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F
- Step 7: Carefully place 3-4 pieces of the coated chicken into the hot oil
- Step 8: Fry the chicken for 8-10 minutes, or until it reaches a golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F
- Step 9: Repeat the frying process with the remaining chicken pieces
- Step 10: In a large bowl, combine the Nashville hot oil blend (or substitute)
- Step 11: Add the fried chicken pieces to the bowl and toss to coat with the hot oil blend
- Step 12: Serve the Nashville hot fried chicken hot and enjoy!
