Description
Triangular-shaped Japanese rice balls filled with salmon and pickled plum
Ingredients
- 6 pickled plum
- Nori
- 0.25 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup Japanese short-grain rice
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 6 slices smoked salmon
- 0.25 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 cup water
Instructions
- Step 1: Rinse the rice thoroughly and cook according to the package instructions with 1/2 cup water and 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Step 2: Allow the rice to cool down to room temperature
- Step 3: Mix the rice vinegar and sugar in a small bowl and stir until the sugar is dissolved
- Step 4: Pour the vinegar mixture over the cooled rice and mix well
- Step 5: Cut the smoked salmon into small pieces
- Step 6: Cut the pickled plum into small pieces
- Step 7: Prepare a small bowl of water
- Step 8: Wet your hands with water and take a small handful of rice
- Step 9: Shape the rice into a triangle and make a small indentation in the middle
- Step 10: Place a piece of salmon and a piece of pickled plum in the indentation
- Step 11: Fold the two sides of the triangle over the filling and press the edges together to seal the onigiri
- Step 12: Repeat with the remaining ingredients
- Step 13: Wrap each onigiri with nori sheet
