Description
Crispy fried chicken tossed in a sweet and savory orange sauce
Ingredients
- Vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 0.5 pounds chicken breasts
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 cup orange marmalade
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Step 1: In a shallow dish, mix together flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Step 2: Pour buttermilk into a separate shallow dish.
- Step 3: Dip each piece of chicken into the buttermilk, then coat in the flour mixture.
- Step 4: Heat about 1/2-inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Step 5: Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-6 minutes per batch.
- Step 6: In a small saucepan, whisk together orange marmalade, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes.
- Step 7: Bring the sauce to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Step 8: Add the cooked chicken to the sauce and toss to coat.
