Description
Traditional Chinese dumplings filled with a savory mixture of ground pork and vegetables, pan-fried to a golden brown.
Ingredients
- 2 cloves garlic
- 0.25 cup water
- 0.5 pound pork
- 0.5 cup scallions
- 0.25 cup ginger
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 2 cups flour
- 0.5 cup cabbage
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add warm water and mix until a dough forms.
- Step 2: Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for 30 minutes.
- Step 3: In a separate mixing bowl, combine ground pork, chopped cabbage, scallions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well.
- Step 4: Divide the dough into small balls, about the size of a small egg. Roll out each ball into a thin circle.
- Step 5: Place a tablespoon of the pork filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape, and press the edges together to seal the dumpling.
- Step 6: Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add the dumplings and cook until the bottom is golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
- Step 7: Add 1/4 cup of water to the skillet and cover with a lid. Steam the dumplings for 5 minutes, or until the water has evaporated and the dumplings are cooked through.
