Description
A classic American sandwich featuring a juicy beef patty, melted Swiss cheese, and caramelized onions on toasted rye bread
Ingredients
- 1 large Onion
- 2 tbsp All-purpose Flour
- 0.5 tsp Black Pepper
- 2 tsp Paprika
- 8 oz Ground Beef
- 4 slices Swiss Cheese
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
- 4 slices Rye Bread
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat a griddle or skillet to medium-high heat
- Step 2: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined
- Step 3: Form into 4 patties, about 3/4 inch (2cm) thick
- Step 4: Add butter to the preheated griddle and cook for 1-2 minutes, until melted
- Step 5: Add patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, until cooked to desired doneness
- Step 6: While the patties are cooking, toast the rye bread on the griddle
- Step 7: On the toasted bread, layer a cooked patty, a slice of Swiss cheese, and a spoonful of caramelized onions (see note)
- Step 8: Top with another slice of toasted bread
- Step 9: Serve immediately and enjoy!
