Pork and Vegetable Egg Rolls

Description

A classic Chinese dish filled with ground pork, vegetables, and wrapped in a thin dough wrapper

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 0.5 cup cabbage
  • 0.5 cup carrots
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 0.25 cup scallions
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 package egg roll wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, chopped cabbage, carrots, scallions, garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well.
  2. Step 2: Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner pointing towards you.
  3. Step 3: Place about 1 tablespoon of the pork and vegetable mixture in the center of the wrapper.
  4. Step 4: Brush the edges of the wrapper with a small amount of water.
  5. Step 5: Fold the bottom corner of the wrapper over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll up the wrapper to form a tight cylinder. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  6. Step 6: Heat about 1-2 inches of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  7. Step 7: When the oil is hot, add a few of the egg rolls to the skillet (do not overcrowd) and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  8. Step 8: Remove the egg rolls from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  9. Step 9: Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
