Description
Tender pulled pork shoulder served on a soft bun with a refreshing coleslaw made from shredded cabbage and carrots
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 4 hamburger buns
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup carrots
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 0.25 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 pounds pork shoulder
- 0.25 cup mayonnaise
- 2 cups cabbage
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Step 2: Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper.
- Step 3: In a large Dutch oven, combine the pork shoulder and barbecue sauce. Cover and transfer to the preheated oven.
- Step 4: Braise the pork for 6 hours, or until tender and easily shredded.
- Step 5: While the pork is cooking, prepare the coleslaw. In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and carrots.
- Step 6: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to combine.
- Step 7: Once the pork is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes. Shred the pork with two forks.
- Step 8: Split the hamburger buns in half and toast until lightly browned.
- Step 9: Assemble the sandwiches by spooning the shredded pork onto the buns, followed by a dollop of coleslaw.
